Our co-founder Dirk Paelinck will be giving the opening speech on July 1 at 9 am (CET), and will present ‘How Europe aims to be a global PropTech leader’, alongside Professor Rudy Aernhoudt, Chief Economist of the European Commission on July 1 at 2.30 pm (CET).
With this summit, Proptech Lab aims to turn the current crisis as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic into an opportunity. This two-day event, which is the first-ever digital fundraising summit for PropTech Startups, will match PropTech startups/ scale-ups with investors, who have confirmed they are ready to invest now.
For PropTech, which includes all innovation (technologies or business models) in the real estate value chain (construction and property industries), it is now or never:
– The current health and economical crisis will accelerate the need for PropTech solutions
– On the medium term, the inevitable digital transformation of construction and real estate will take place
– More than ever the survival of construction and real estate corporations depends on their agility, as the resilience of the sector depends on its ability to embrace new technologies.
This crisis will accelerate the adoption of PropTech and the consolidation of the global PropTech market. However, in the short term, it could result in the disappearance of about 50% of the PropTech startups, as they are predicting cash flow and liquidity issues.
The European PropTech ecosystem right now represents 2900+ startups and scale-ups, employing 641,595 Full-Time Equivalents, and last year alone raised €3,05 billion. Without a quick reaction, the rapidly growing European PropTech ecosystem will revert to its level of 3 years ago.
This summit comes at a critical time and offers a fast and practical solution to help connect and promote investment and fundraising in the PropTech market by facilitating the matchmaking between startups and investors
